Dexterity Global Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people in our care. We recognise our responsibility to provide a safe, supportive, and respectful online learning environment where every student is protected from harm.
1. Our Commitment
We believe that:
- Every child has the right to feel safe, respected, and valued.
- Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
- Online education requires clear boundaries, vigilance, and strong safeguarding procedures.
This policy applies to all staff, teachers, tutors, contractors, volunteers, students, and parents engaged with Dexterity Global Education.
2. Definition of Safeguarding
Safeguarding includes:
- Protecting children from abuse and neglect
- Preventing harm to children’s health or development
- Ensuring children grow up in safe and effective learning environments
Abuse may be physical, emotional, sexual, or neglect, including online abuse or exploitation.
3. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to:
- All live online classes and educational sessions
- All digital platforms used for teaching and communication
- All interactions between staff and students
4. Roles & Responsibilities
Safeguarding Lead
Dexterity Global Education appoints a designated Safeguarding Lead responsible for:
- Overseeing safeguarding procedures
- Receiving and managing safeguarding concerns
- Liaising with parents, staff, and relevant authorities where required
Staff & Tutors
All staff and tutors must:
- Complete safeguarding awareness training
- Follow this policy and report concerns immediately
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times
5. Safe Online Learning Environment
To protect students in an online setting, we ensure:
- Classes are conducted on approved, secure platforms
- Live sessions are structured and supervised
- One-to-one sessions follow approved safeguarding guidelines
- Cameras, chat functions, and recordings are managed appropriately
- No private or unsupervised communication with students outside approved channels
6. Staff Recruitment & Conduct
- All teaching staff are appropriately qualified and vetted.
- Background checks are conducted in line with applicable laws.
- Staff must adhere to a strict code of professional conduct.
- Any form of inappropriate behaviour, communication, or boundary violation is prohibited.
7. Student Behaviour & Online Safety
Students are expected to:
- Treat teachers and peers with respect
- Use digital platforms responsibly
- Report anything that makes them feel uncomfortable
Parents are encouraged to:
- Provide a safe learning space at home
- Supervise younger children during online sessions
- Communicate any concerns promptly
8. Reporting Safeguarding Concerns
Safeguarding concerns may be raised by:
- Students
- Parents or guardians
- Staff or tutors
All concerns must be reported immediately to the Safeguarding Lead. Reports are treated seriously, confidentially, and without delay.
9. Responding to Concerns
- The child’s safety is prioritised at all times
- Information is recorded accurately and securely
- Appropriate action is taken, which may include contacting parents or relevant authorities
Dexterity Global Education will cooperate fully with safeguarding agencies when required.
10. Confidentiality & Data Protection
- Handled sensitively and securely
- Shared only on a need-to-know basis
- Managed in line with data protection laws and our Privacy Policy
11. Training & Awareness
- Safeguarding training is provided to relevant staff and tutors.
- Safeguarding procedures are reviewed regularly.
- Parents and students are informed of expected standards of behaviour and reporting routes.
12. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and compliant with safeguarding best practices.
